SUMMER SHOW AUDITIONS

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN (MUSICAL)

Get ready for a musical filled with laughter, life lessons, and a little bit of “good grief!” Join a lovable blockhead and his friends as they navigate the highs and lows of friendship, school, and one very determined beagle

CASTING AGES 5-18 *This show will be double cast by age group and will include an ensemble.

  • AUDITIONS by video due Monday, May 12
  • AUDITIONS in person Wednesday, May 7 from 6:30-9pm
  • CALLBACKS: Tuesday, May 13
  • CAST & PARENT INFO MEETING: Saturday, May 17

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY for kids ages 4-7

We’re looking to cast 4 kids ages 4-7 for a special featured role in the show. These kids will have shorter rehearsal times, a reduced participation fee, and a whole lot of cute features throughout the show. Message us for details.

Please note that daytime or evening rehearsals will be decided BEFORE callbacks so everyone knows the schedule they are committing to before the cast list is posted. Please list conflicts for daytime or evening for those listed.

The cast will be required to complete volunteer hours for the show, as outlined in the Limelight guide above: What to Expect

WHAT TO PREPARE:

SING – 30 seconds to a minute of any song

ACT – Choose 1 or 2 of the PROVIDED AUDITION MONOLOGUES to perform. These do not need to be memorized.

FOOTLOOSE (MUSICAL)

Get ready to kick off your Sundays shoes with a high-energy musical that will have you dancing in your seats as a group of teens fights to bring music and movement back to their town! 🎶👟

CASTING AGES 12-Adult *This show will be double cast by age group and will include an ensemble.

  • AUDITIONS by video due Monday, May 12
  • AUDITIONS in person Wednesday, May 7
  • CALLBACKS: Friday, May 16, including a dance audition for all.
  • CAST & PARENT INFO MEETING: Friday, May 23
  • FIRST REHEARSAL: Wednesday, May 28
  • PERFORMANCES AT MESA ARTS CENTER: August 1-10

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: *COMING SOON

  • 2-3 Weeknights (TBD) between 5-9pm and Saturdays from May 28 through July 26 (2-4 rehearsals per week average)
  • We will decide which nights BEFORE callbacks based on conflicts submitted.
  • Vacation conflicts are allowed, but please list ALL conflict dates on your audition application form as we are building the rehearsal schedule around the times that the majority of those auditioning are available.
  • You will know the rehearsal schedule outline before callbacks and all conflicts will be confirmed at that time, before casting.

PARTICIPATION FEE: $300 and includes a cast shirt and cast photo. Scholarships are available. Application for scholarships are due on the date of your audition. Adults post-high school do not have to pay a production fee. Instead, we charge a $150 deposit which will be refunded when volunteer hours are completed.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

WE WILL HAVE A NO-CUT CAST AND AN AUDITION CAST

– CASTING AGES 4-12 in our no cut production (everyone gets a role)
– CASTING AGES 5-18 in our audition cast production.

HOW DO I DECIDE WHICH CAST IS RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?

The NO CUT cast is perfect for kids new to theatre or those who want a condensed schedule. For this version, everyone gets a role! Rehearsals are once a week and there are no required pre-production volunteer hours. Actors provide their own costuming. There will be 1-2 performances for this cast, depending on cast size and will be announced with casting.

– This cast will meet Tuesdays 4:30-6:30pm OR Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm (choose one) from June 10-August 6 – The cost to participate is $249 and partial scholarships are available. – Students who sign up with a friend who is NEW to Studio 3 & Limelight will receive $50 off each. – Cast t-shirt is not included, and can be purchased – Tickets are not included and will cost $15 or more (with Mesa Arts Center fees)

The AUDITION cast is perfect for performers with more experience, or those who want a more in depth training at rehearsals. Commitment is 1-3 days per week (currently the schedule is Tues & Friday 4:30-8:30p – it is possible we may add a couple Saturdays). Not everyone will be called for every rehearsal and younger kids will finish earlier. Families are required to do volunteer hours before the shows and during the week of shows. Limelight provides costuming for this cast. Cast only provides shoes and underclothes. This cast will have 3-6 shows depending on the size of the cast and will be announced with casting.

-This cast will meet Tuesdays 4:30-8:30pm and some Fridays and Saturdays. – The production fee is $300 and includes a cast t-shirt and cast photo. – Families are required to do 10 hours of volunteer work during the rehearsal period and work backstage during 1-2 performances. – Tickets are not included and will cost $18 or more (with Mesa Arts Center fees)

WHAT TO PREPARE FOR IN PERSON AUDITION

  • AUDITIONS in person Saturday, May 17
  • AUDITIONS by video due Monday, May 19
  • NO AUDITION is required for performers wishing to be in in the ensemble only. You can simply sign up for ensemble.
  • There will be no CALLBACKS for this show. The auditions will use material from the show.
AT AUDITIONS:
We will be using the material from MTI Junior Audition Central. Choose which role(s) you’d like to audition for and prepare the material as listed on the site. You will read scenes and have the opportunity to do 1-2 songs. (choose your favorite)
12-1pm Auditions for all orphans and Annie
1-1:30pm Everyone auditioning will learn choreo and may be asked to read lines for featured roles like Mr Bundles, appleseller, dog catcher, Drake, and many more)
1:30pm Auditions for Grace, Hannigan, Lily, Rooster, Warbucks, and callbacks for Annie. *This group may take 20-40 minutes depending on number of people auditioning. 

NOTE: If you are only auditioning for the adult roles in the show, you may arrive at 1pm.

ANNIE – Sing first part of Maybe (to “giving up me”) AND last section of Tomorrow (from “when I’m stuck with a day”) *Everyone who is interested in the role of Annie will sing Hard Knock Life with the orphans. We will choose students based on performance of that song to sing these additional Annie songs. Not everyone interested in the role of Annie will get to sing Maybe and Tomorrow.

ORPHANS – Sing second part of Hard Knock Life “Got no folks” to “easier than puttin up a fight”

HANNIGAN – Sing Little Girls (ends at “send a flood, send a flu, anything that you can do to little girls”)

ROOSTER & LILY – Sing East Street (start at “maybe she holds the key” and stop after “yes sirree yeah” *Sing all the sentences for all characters listed as if its a solo.

GRACE – Sing Gonna Like it Here. Start at “when you wake” and end at “gonna like it here”

WARBUCKS – Sing NYC beginning to “I come alive”:1

INSTRUCTIONS FOR VIDEO AUDITION

1. Fill out the audition application here.

2. You can record your video all together or edit it together.

3. Start by stating your name, age, and what what roles you will and will not accept, and any roles you are the most interested in. 

4. Then choose 1-2 characters and sing the songs for those characters with a karaoke track (no voices in the track)

5. For those same characters, read the script with a family member on screen with you so we can see how you interact with them. 

6. Put on the song “Hard Knock Life” for orphans and “NYC” for adult roles, and dance for 30 seconds. We just want to see how you move. 

7. Upload your video to a google drive and set the sharing permissions to “view by anyone with the link” OR upload to youtube. Paste the link in the VIDEO Audition Form Here.

8. You’re all done! We’ll contact you if we need to see anything more.
