GLITZ: THE LITTLE MISS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT MUSICAL
In the true spirit of Christmas, get a behind-the-scenes look at the backstabbing mothers and fiercely competitive daughters in the “Little Miss Christmas Pageant,” an annual competition where ten girls (and their outrageous stage moms) compete for the coveted Christmas crown. Sequins, shiny shoes, and a can of hairspray aren’t all it takes to win this battle. These diva daughters and pushy moms are armed with sheer grit and a thirst for victory. However, when the value of truth, honesty, and love is learned, Christmas spirit becomes the true winner in this heartwarming new holiday classic.
The story revolves around a young teen/preteen girls’ beauty pageant that is run by a crooked man named Shayde Shams who has claimed that the money raised by the pageant would be given to a specific community of nuns in an obscure foreign country that no one has heard of. In reality, Shayde Shams, however, plans to pocket the fifty thousand dollars that the pageant was generating, unbeknownst to the contestants and their overly zealous mothers.
Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys’ and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through the songs of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions, place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.
